THE CHALLENGE

Rats!

The Smashing Boxes team was hired to provide a design and build an app which allows alerts and monitoring of Krittersense traps with reporting to meet regulatory standards.

Trap activity is synced to the app that allows for live monitoring of the trap status. The remote monitoring system transmits data in real-time and can track multiple trap locations throughout a site — allowing pest control professionals to have valuable trap information all in one place.

The Krittersense app was designed using Material Design components.

MY ROLE ON THIS PROJECT

  • Understand: Discovery research, user Interviews

  • Analyze: Design synthesis (research summary)

  • Design: Sketching, user flows, high-fidelity prototyping, design system, UI and interaction design

  • Validate: Facilitated user testing sessions

On-board motion sensor determines where the pest activity is taking place. Trigger system monitors the trap’s state and the motion sensor notifies user of trap activity. Trap activity data is received by the KritterSense Gateway (hub) and sent to the KritterSense Console (online portal).

Krittersense on-boarding flow includes gateway registration and device setup.

Krittersense reporting and notification settings. The flow contains bait station reports, rodent counter reports and humidity/temperature reports.
